Throughout last week we had debates taking place about parking around schools and during that debate a family member informed us that a funeral was to take place in Ryan Avenue this morning. The family member expressed his concerns about the movements of cars arriving and departing the schools, and the detrimental affect that this potential interaction could have on those attending the funeral.
I asked the Head Teacher at Oakmeadow in Ryan Avenue if she could help, and the school wrote a letter to parents asking them to refrain from using Ryan Avenue this morning. I also wrote to the Wolverhampton City Council asking them if they could help so the funeral is not disrupted and the family and friends of the deceased were not exposed to any anxiety’s on the day.
I have just returned from Ryan avenue and I want to thank everyone for the way they have reacted to this. The Highway is pretty clear, the City Council have sent a traffic warden and Public Realm have coned off a space for the funeral cars……
I just want to thank the school, the city Council & Public Realm, plus parents for dealing with this very sad day in the way that they all have.
