Councillor Phil Bateman said “There is a lot of speculation about.
Tonight I have received a briefing note from the City officials trying to give information on the latest Covid-19 infection rate & tier 3 speculation
Latest figures for Wolverhampton show an infection rate of 249.48 cases per 100,000 people for the seven days leading up to October 27. This compares to 212.12 cases per 100,000 people for the week leading up to October 20.
The officials briefing explained that there are some misleading media reports over the last 24 hours saying the West Midlands, including Wolverhampton, could be moved to tier 3 Very High Alert “within days”.
The City inform me that although we continue to closely monitor and discuss the situation with our regional colleagues, no decision has been taken to move this city into tier 3 – at this particular time.
They inform me that they will keep me informed of any changes in due course.”
