Wednesfield North Councillors Rita Potter, Mary and Phil Bateman, together have been working behind the scenes to see if there was a way to help a community Group active on Ashmore Park.
“‘Regifting the Community’ is a volunteer group” -Councillor Phil Bateman said. He added “They are Organised by Sara Lou, who is helping to deliver much needed assistance, sourcing & pointing the way to financial help, for parents, finding the cost of school uniforms expensive.”
He went onto say “Sara Lou, has been a long-time organiser for this particular sort of parental help. We have been impressed by what the community has told us about the volunteer group and what it has achieved. We feel as Councillors that supporting Sara Lou and her group. Is the best and easiest way forward to quickly assist parents finding it financially difficult to get school uniforms, for their children in time for the start of the new school year.
Today, we arranged for £687 from our Wednesfield North Ward Funds, to help ‘Regifting the Community. ‘
As Local City Councillors, active here in Wednesfield North, we know times are tough for many sections of our community. We have been most impressed by this Volunteer Group who are working their socks off, to fill a gap in our community. We will be looking to work with them when and where we can, going forward. We recognise the financial help is modest. But it will help the voluntary group In their quest to support families who are finding life very tough financially at the moment. Rita, Mary and I, are committed to see what further support can be achieved during the course of this year. “
