West Midlands Police-
Further to my recent messages around Pickpockets and Theft we have some good news.
Descriptions were given to partner agencies and businesses across Wolverhampton City Centre to try and catch a pickpocket who is responsible for a number of thefts over the previous few weeks.
On Thursday the 17th December 2020 the police had a call about a suspicious male who matched the description and city centre officers attended the area, a male was arrested and subsequently searched. A stolen mobile phone was recovered from the offender which will be returned to its owner and the male has now been charged with three theft from person offences including purses, cash and mobile phones and is being investigated for a fourth.
The male is now remanded in custody for a trial at crown court.
We would like to thank the local businesses for their support and efforts to catch someone who was targeting shoppers across the city.
City Centre officers will continue high visibility patrols and as always try to keep visitors to the city centre safe.
Please make sure all bags are secure and you are not distracted, if you have any concerns whilst in a retail premises please inform security or staff as soon as possible and if a crime is taking place contact the police.
We want everyone to enjoy their Christmas, stay safe and not be a victim.
