With the Post Office at Lower Prestwood Road closing due to a dispute between the Post Master and the owner of the shop it was located in. Local residents have been denuded of their postal services operating from that location.
I have been back in touch with the Post Office and the latest situation is this. Post Office tell me “unfortunately there has been no resolution to the lease dispute and the landlord will not let the postmaster back into the existing premises or allow us to install a temporary postmaster to reopen the branch.
The current postmaster is continuing with their plans to relocate the branch to premises in the vicinity of the current Post Office and we are due to launch a consultation on this shortly with a view to opening the branch early next year. ”
I am in contact with Post Office and I have agreed to help them with their alternative arrangements when all the details of another become clearer. I am pleased that they are still interested in operating Postal Services at this location and are wed to providing another Post Office at this location here close to Woodend Island at the Pheasant. At this moment in time their plans are to stay close to their former outlet, but not trading from the same (closed) shop.
I have offered them help with consultation when their proposal becomes clearer.
