Yet Another Narrow-Boat cruise will Arrive in Wednesfield Today!

Now how about this then! Another cruise arrives in Wednesfield today when the BCN Cruise powers into Bentley Bridge tonight with 18 Narrow Boats arriving Sunday (21 August) afternoon and mooring for an overnight stay.

That means that we will have 32 boat crew (tourists) in our Village overnight.

Canal Boats Visiting WednesfieldI do hope the outlets at Bentley Bridge, the Pubs in Wednesfield High Street will welcome them with a smile! Chat with them and make them feel welcome in our Village.

Tomorrow ( Monday) I will meet with them at 9.00am to speak with them and learn from what part of the Country and even further afield they have come from.

I will also be presenting the first narrow-boat to have moored in Bentley Bridge with a Local History book “Wednesfield Our Village”. Usually Ray Fellows who is the author of the book comes down and presents it himself.

Ray has written three books about Wednesfield, explaining how Wednesfield took its name from a great battle between Anglo-Saxons & Vikings.

We are delighted that this cruise is taking place again this August. This will be the third such cruise that has visited Wednesfield this year, it’s a record that I hope will be broken going forward!

Welcome Narrow-Boat Cruisers to Wednesfield and the Wyrley & Essington Canal, it is a great canal, and I am sure you will enjoy travelling on it towards Pelsall and Walsall!
